Smart city starts from smart street lighting. The cloud platform for street lighting control is based on QR code technology to achieve unified control, management and maintenance. It also provides unified fault alarm under abnormal operating condition. These equipments include the street lights, controllers and the internet gateway devices. The cloud platform is now compatible with various street light controllers produced by different companies, and it can also be customized. As a mobile application, App of the cloud platform for street lighting is used to provide lighting control, surveillance and management. The central controller of street lighting transfers data through GMS network, providing a possible solution for worldwide smart street lighting system. Automatic networking can be realized for the nodes of street lights through Zigbee interface. This improves the capability to against failure of single node.
